The Atlanta Falcons are in the middle of restructuring their roster but that doesn't mean the entire team will be duds. There is plenty for fans to be excited about, as the front office has brought in some nice young talent in the last two years. As long as they develop, then we should see this franchise competitive again in the NFC South. We dive into a key position group to make a big impact for the Falcons in the 2022 NFL season.

After dealing Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta can move on which allows new stars to rise up. Many are keeping tabs on the quarterback situation, as fans are eager to see what Desmond Ridder brings to the table. However, it should be Marcus Mariota's job to lose, as his experience makes him a prime option for a rebuilding Falcons team.

It'll be interesting to see how the passing attack performs next season. Although Atlanta lost Calvin Ridley for the year, the front office brought in Drake London. Additionally, Kyle Pitts is an absolute monster waiting to come alive. For the Falcons to make any noise, one of these two is going to have to step their game up. However, a specific group will play a larger role than the other.

With that said, here is our key position group to make an impact for the Falcons in the 2022 NFL season.

Falcons Key Position Group For 2022 NFL Season

Tight Ends

Expectations should be high for the tight end group this year. Specifically Kyle Pitts. He's one of the best young talents to enter the league and is set to have a giant year for the Falcons. Pitts will likely be the top pass option and the coaching staff should center the offense around him. If they can do that, then the best player on the team will carry the workload all season long.

He had a solid rookie campaign, especially for a tight end. Kyle Pitts ended the season with 68 receptions, 1,026 receiving yards, and one touchdown. Had he found pay dirt more often, then his rookie season would have been phenomenal. Regardless, we should see Pitts improve in all three of those areas for the Falcons.

What's really working in his favor though is the habits of his quarterback. During his time with the Tennessee Titans, Marcus Mariota fed the ball to Delanie Walker often. Walker was the team's top pass option as a tight end and served as one of the league's best during that time. Simply put, Mariota likes to throw to tight ends, which means Kyle Pitts is going to get the ball a lot for the Falcons in the upcoming NFL season.

Additionally, Pitts is entering the second year of his career. Naturally, he is only going to improve his game. He's essentially a giant superstar wide receiver playing tight end, which gives the Falcons a centerpiece for the offense. On top of that, opposing defenses will likely do their best to double-team him, but considering how much talent he has that shouldn't be a problem. That will also open up opportunities for his teammates to get open, which makes him a key component of Atlanta's passing attack.

Keep an eye on this kid, as Kyle Pitts is a superstar in the making. With Marcus Mariota under center, we might just see a breakout season that will only lead to better results for years to come. Look for the Falcons to feed Pitts the ball often throughout the 2022 NFL season.
