The Detroit Lions have made some solid moves this offseason as the front office continues to build the roster. They're still far away from being a legitimate threat in the NFC North, but the franchise has created a nice foundation to keep improving on. There is plenty for fans to be excited about but there is one key area that could really take the league by storm. We take a dive into a position group for the Lions that will make the biggest impact in the 2022 NFL season.

It'll be interesting to see how Detroit improves, as they strung together some decent performances at the end of last year. Playoffs are a far-fetched idea, but becoming a middle-of-the-pack team is well within their range of outcomes. If the Lions can do that, then the outlook of this franchise becomes much more bright.

The passing attack must be better as it was an issue last year. There will be a lot of pressure on Jared Goff, but luckily for him, the Lions have brought in some talented pass options. The Lions' wide receivers are in a position to shock the league, which is what Detroit needs if they hope to be more competitive next year.

With that said, here is our key position group to make the most significant impact on the Lions for the 2022 NFL season.

Lions Key Position Group For 2022 NFL Season

Wide Receivers

The wide receiver group is shaping up nicely, especially after this offseason. We'll have to see how it plays out, but as of right now, things are finally looking up for the Lions. If this young core plays well, Detroit's offense is going to be much better than anticipated.

Amon-Ra St. Brown burst onto the scene late last year and he should be a focal point of the offensive attack next season. After missing out on most of the first portion of the regular season, St. Brown became a vital asset for the Lions in the final stretch. He ended his rookie campaign with 90 receptions, 912 receiving yards, and five touchdowns.

Now, he has a legitimate sidekick in Jameson Williams. Detroit made a splash pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and it should pay off. Williams was a stud during his time in college and should make an immediate impact for the Lions. If that's the case, this offense suddenly has two stud wide receivers at Jared Goff's disposal.

Detroit also signed DJ Chark in free agency. Although he's not a superstar-caliber player, he's been reliable in the past. Chark is an intriguing option as well, who should bring stability to the passing game until Williams is ready for an expanded role. The Lions' wide receivers are primed for a big season.

Many don't see Jared Goff as a competent quarterback, however, he can give Detroit exactly what the wide receivers need to succeed. He helped Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods maintain relevance in the league during his time with the Los Angeles Rams. There is no reason to believe he can't do the same for Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. Additionally, Goff improved his play once the Lions changed play callers and that should transition to next season.

So, keep an eye on this wide receiver group. A lot of attention will be on D'Andre Swift and TJ Hockenson, but the receivers are going to have the opportunity to help the Lions elevate their game.
