“Kim Mulkey is a champion and a Hall of Fame, and we are thrilled to welcome her home,” LSU athletic director Scott Woodward said in a statement. “Her accomplishments are unprecedented, her passion is unrivaled, and her commitment to winning in all aspects of life – in the classroom, on the court and in the community – is unparalleled. We look forward to working with her as she instill that championship culture at LSU.”

While certainly one of the most accomplished coaches in college basketball history, Kim Mulkey doesn't come without some luggage. Without even digging that far into her past, she's fresh off a weird meltdown of sorts in the most recent Women's NCAA Tournament in which she advocated for COVID-19 testing to stop as to prevent games from being cancelled.

As opposed to, you know, making sure COVID-19 wasn't running roughshod through players in the last few games of the season. But hey… whatever!

Nonetheless, the former Baylor Bears coach has a legit pedigree and comes with a ton of success. The LSU Tigers, fresh off a few scandals of their own, is hoping this marriage works out well. Moreover, they are hoping the 631-104 record she brings with her will transition to a new program and in a new conference.

All of that being said, and while a lot will hinge on how she handles the media and “her thoughts on things” as people talk to her, the Kim Mulkey-LSU Tigers pairing can't be judged until there is a sample-size to go off of.
