After the biggest comeback in NBA finals history, the Cleveland Cavaliers have ruled the basketball world. And as we have seen already this off-season, the team will be enjoying that status to the fullest! And deservedly so.

Elsewhere around the league, teams are gearing up and retooling their rosters in hopes of being in position to dethrone Lebron, Kyrie, and company. With Kevin Durant meeting with several NBA powerhouses, along with other key free agents, the league will have a bit of a different look going into the 2016-17 season.

Every off-season is eventful, but one thing is for sure: when Lebron James has tasted that sweet championship champagne, the top teams in the league go to great lengths to attack the throne. Eastern conference squads are already looking a bit tougher, with the New York Knicks acquiring former MVP Derrick Rose, along with Joakim Noah. The Atlanta Hawks also added Dwight Howard, and it is still early in the whole NBA free agent frenzy.

Combine that with Lebron & The Cavs‘ dismantling of the 73-9 super team, the Golden State Warriors, and what you have are the base ingredients for the league's next “super team.”

This is the “King James Effect”. While it's clear after last week's NBA draft that many teams are rebuilding to win in the long run, there are several perennial powerhouses looking to win now. So while the league is playing catch-up to its surprise champions (underdogs in every way against the Warriors), the Cavaliers, are preparing for ring defense against a league that was supposed to belong to Mr. Curry and The Bay area. Ask the folks in Oakland about the ‘King James Effect.' They wouldn't be clamoring for Mr. Durant's attention without it.
