Kingdom Hearts and Super Smash Bros Ultimate (SSBU) fans rejoice—the SSBU roster is now complete with the arrival of Sora in the fighting game. The keyblade-wielding character's launch marks the conclusion of Fighters Pass Volume 2 and downloadable content (DLC) for SSBU after three years of exciting updates and expansions.

For players who already purchased the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, they can automatically download Sora at no additional cost. Not to mention, this update also introduces a brand new stage called the Hollow Bastion. As Sora's home stage, Hollow Bastion is based on the Kingdom Hearts franchise's bewitching and ominous castle of the same name. In SSBU, the stage is similarly beautiful—and twisted—appearing as a floating, traveling platform. After beginning at the Rising Falls, it soars to the skies around the exterior of the Hollow Bastion castle, then loops back around to Rising Falls.

To match the floaty nature of the stage, Sora as a SSBU fighter thrives at fighting in mid-air. Players will likely find him a joy to maneuver, as the character is designed to be less weighty and relatively easy to launch compared to other fighters in the game.

With Sora now live, new music and spirits from Kingdom Hearts have also been unlocked. Moreover, players can buy new Mii Fighter Costumes, including Doom Slayer from the Doom franchise and Judd from Splatoon 2.

Game Director Masahiro Sakurai first revealed Sora's inclusion as the final DLC fighter during his swan song presentation earlier this month. Besides having the franchise's main character join as SSBU‘s final fighter, Sakurai added that the partnership with SQUARE ENIX and Disney is also bringing the complete Kingdom Hearts trilogy to Nintendo Switch. The game will be available on the platform through cloud gaming, but no release date has been announced yet.
