The Bogdan Bogdanovic situation in Sacramento is nothing short of a mess. The Kings agreed to a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks nearly a week before teams were allowed to speak to any kind of free agent, even players on their own teams. The trade has since been scrapped (for now). Nevertheless, in agreeing to the trade at all the Kings made one thing clear, they're choosing Buddy Hield over Bogdan Bogdanovic.

On the daily Locked On Kings Podcast, host Matt George explains the Bogdan Bogdanovic situation and why this was the wrong choice by the franchise.

Matt George: I'm going to go back to what I said about choosing between Bogdan Bogdanovic and Buddy Hield. A lot of people surprised me by saying they would choose Buddy without even thinking about it. I'm aware that Buddy Hield has an elite skill, his shooting is elite. Bogi doesn't really have an elite skill, but Bogi is an all-around better basketball player than Buddy Hield and that is not disputable. Bogi can run your offense, Bogi can play off the ball, he can hit outside shots in big moments, he can attack the basket, he can pass. He's not the best rebounder, certainly not the best defender, but defensively, but he's not as massive of a liability as Buddy Hield has been over the last couple of seasons.

I don't like the idea that the Kings chose Buddy over Bogi, even it makes sense to a lot of people. I would much rather have Bogi on my roster. I want to clarify one thing, something that's been said a lot on Twitter today that is absolutely wrong, this idea that Bogi was gone regardless. That is not the case. Now it may be true and only time will tell but it may be true that this was the best-case scenario for the Kings. What happened to Kings, trading Bogi away, saving money, and getting a piece like Donte DiVincenzo back that may be the best-case scenario. However, Bogi was not guaranteed to leave. Make sure you understand this, Bogdan Bogdanovic was a restricted free agent, which means the Sacramento Kings and Monte McNair had the final say no matter what. Now they could be put in a really tough position.
