In a video that surfaced on TMZ Sports, it seemed like Sacramento Kings combo guard Ben McLemore was taking a firm stand by saying that NFL players should stop kneeling during the national anthem as it is an act of disrespect to the nation.

“You should always represent our nation. That's how I feel. I think you always should.

“In their case, it's getting lost, but for our sport in the NBA, I think it's not. We show appreciation to the nation.”

However, McLemore has since released his own personal statement regarding the short interview and has cleared up any conclusions that could point to his disapproval of the protests.

Despite NFL players using kneeling as a sign of protest against social injustice and police brutality, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver sent out a league-wide memo that all players should stand for the anthem.

“We have a rule that requires our players to stand for the anthem,” Silver said. “It's been our rule as long as I've been involved with the league, and my expectation is that our players will continue to stand for the anthem.”

NBA players have indeed taken heed of Silver's memo. However, many players are still willing to speak out on these types of social issues, which Silver applauds.

LeBron James is one of those players. During the Cleveland Cavaliers' media day last year, James spoke on his impression on the kneeling of several NFL players and lashed out at President Donald Trump's criticisms.

“I salute the NFL, the players, the coaches, the owners and the fans…it was unbelievable. There was solidarity. There was no divide, no divide even from that guy that continues to try to divide us as people. Like I said on one of my social media platforms a couple days, a go, the thing that kind of frustrated me and pissed me off a little bit, he used the sports platform to try to divide us.

While NBA players won't be kneeling, expect many to continue speaking their mind against injustices and using their platform to try to help improve the world.
