Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield is donating $100,000 to help the Bahamas recover from the devastation that was Hurricane Dorian.

Hield, born and raised was visibly heartbroken with what transpired in his home country. The Bahamas native posted a video on social media and humbly called on the general public to do whatever they can to help out the families affected by the Category 5 hurricane.

“As you know, my country, the Bahamas, has been severely damaged by the catastrophic storm, Hurricane Dorian,” Hield said in the video, via The Sacramento Bee. “My heart is broken for my country. Bahamians are one of the strongest sets of people I know, but they still need your help to get through this.

Much of the damage came to the islands of the Grand Bahamas, where the Kings guard was born and raised, and Abaco.

For those concerned with this news, you can donate to the Go Fund Me campaign that Hield created. The former no. 6 overall pick is looking to raise $1-million for the cause. Every dollar that will be collected from the fundraiser will be used to provide basic necessities to those affected by the hurricane.

This is obviously bigger than basketball and it's great that the Bahamians have someone like Buddy Hield who can use his voice and reach to help raise awareness to the damage that happened to the Bahamas.

Our thoughts and prayers go to all those affected by this unfortunate calamity. Let's all support Buddy through his cause and may the strong people of the Bahamas recover and come back stronger from this devastating event.
