Sacramento Kings shooting guard Buddy Hield is one of the premier marksmen in the NBA. After all, Hield defeated a pretty loaded field to win the 3-point shootout at the 2020 All-Star Weekend.

Of course, Hield had a fairly prolific stroke well before he made it to the NBA. He shot 39.0 percent from beyond the arc during his career at Oklahoma, including 45.7 percent on 8.7 attempts per game during his senior year.

Hield's former coach, Lon Kruger, said Hield once made 49 consecutive shots during a team shootaround prior to a game.

Buddy Hield has retained that confidence from the perimeter. He is shooting 41.1 percent from beyond the arc for his career, including close to 39.5 percent on 9.5 attempts per game in the suspended 2019-20 season.

The 27-year-old was averaging 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists for the Kings prior to the suspension of play due to the coronavirus pandemic. But while Hield has built on his breakout 2018-19 campaign, things have not been quite as smooth internally.

Sacramento gave Hield a four-year extension back in October, but he quickly grew disgruntled with Kings head coach Luke Walton. The Athletic reported in February that Hield was on the verge of a trade after being moved to the bench. However, such a move never materialized and it seems Walton and Hield are on better terms.

The Kings were one of the teams most impacted by the suspension of the regular season. They had won seven of their first 10 games after the break, with Hield shooting the lights out from beyond the arc. However, their playoff push remains on hold and might be in danger should the NBA elect to simply move right into the playoffs.
