Sacramento Kings guard De'Aaron Fox was on the receiving end of some criticism after allegedly abandoning his team following Sacramento's 118-111 defeat at the hands of the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night. The 21-year-old certainly did not appreciate the fact that his leadership was being put to question, and Fox made sure he cleared things up via Twitter:

As it turns out, Fox did not abandon his team at all. He may have been a bit standoffish to the media following another frustrating loss, but the 6-foot-3 point guard saw to it that he would not leave the locker room earlier than expected.

The Kings have been absolutely terrible to start the new season, with Wednesday's defeat being their fifth straight loss to open the new campaign. No one can fault Fox for his effort, though, with the former fifth overall pick flirting with a triple-double with 16 points (on 6-of-16 shooting), seven rebounds, and 10 assists.

Over Sacramento's first five games, Fox is currently averaging 16.2 points (on 38.8 percent from the floor), 3.6 rebounds, and 6.8 assists. While these aren't bad numbers, the Kings were expecting more of Fox as he tries to make the leap to stardom.

De'Aaron Fox and company are off on Thursday but will be back in action on Friday hosting the Utah Jazz, who themselves have amassed a formidable 4-1 record thus far. This is going to be another difficult matchup for the Kings, and odds are, they will need to wait a little bit longer before they finally achieve their first win of the season.
