One of the priorities of the Sacramento Kings this off-season is searching for their man in the middle. Former Kings franchise center DeMarcus Cousins is also on the search for a team that will give him another shot.

A reunion, perhaps? Cousins is reportedly open to it, per Jason Jones of The Athletic, but the Kings are not interested in bringing him back:

League sources have told The Athletic that Cousins would be open to the idea of a return, but the Kings have not expressed interest in a reunion. The Kings are focused on their younger players and playing a faster style. They have also resisted bringing in big personalities such as Cousins since trading him.

Sacramento moved on from Cousins after trading him in February 2017. Since then, the Kings have finally made strides after going through a rough stretch during Cousins' tenure as the face of the franchise.

The Kings have shown interest in other centers such as Al Horford, Nikola Vucevic, Brook Lopez, and Dewayne Dedmon. All of them can defend on the post, block shots, and space out the floor as stretch bigs.

It's no secret that, at his best, Cousins fits that bill. However, coming off a devastating Achilles injury and a quad injury that limited him through the Golden State Warriors' Finals series against the Toronto Raptors, Cousins never regained his All-Star form for the most of the 2018-19 season. It still remains to be seen whether he can still be the player he once was prior to his Achilles injury.

Even without the injury woes, the Kings probably don't want to bring back someone who, for a good part of his time there, became a bit of a headache for the franchise.
