Sacramento Kings guard George Hill has experienced an up-and-down season thus far.

On the one hand, Hill is an impact player on a Kings team that made good moves over the summer and is trying to improve.

On the other, there are rookie point guards on the team who need playing time, and often it's Hill making a sacrifice so they can get the minutes they need to develop.

But Hill doesn't seem to be worrying about how much he plays or his role on the team, per Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee.

Hill has been trying to adjust to playing less, finding his game with new teammates while also serving as a mentor to rookie point guards De’Aaron Fox and Frank Mason III.

Hill said at this point he’s not searching for his role on the team.

“No, if it’s there, it’s there,” Hill said. “I’m just trying to help the young fellas learn, mentor them and figure that out as we go.

It's curious that Hill is being so diplomatic about his role and his playing time only days after it came out that he was reportedly unhappy because the Kings management promised him the team would contend for a playoff spot. Perhaps he's trying to put that past him.

But Hill is a solid player, and he is averaging 25.6 minutes game, per Basketball Reference. But that number is his lowest since the 2011-2012 season.

It wouldn't be surprising if he chose to move on from the Kings in the near future, given how things have played out this year for him.
