The Arizona Wildcats recently fired long-time head coach, Sean Miller. During his time coaching the Wildcats, Miller accumulated a record of 302-109 with the program. The firing has caused a stir in the rumor mill as to who Arizona might hire to replace Miller. A favorite name being thrown into the hat is Sacramento Kings head coach, Luke Walton, per Nick Kosko.

Walton attended and played for the Arizona Wildcats before playing professionally in the NBA for 10 years. Since then, Walton has hit the coaching circuit in the NBA and has been the head coach in Sacramento since 2019.

Despite Walton potentially being a perfect match for the Wildcats, he denies any rumors or interest in joining Arizona's basketball program.

“No, no interest. I love Arizona,” Walton said. “Sean Miller did an amazing job there in his time, but I have a job that I love, I got a group I love working with. Very committed to being here in Sacramento and in keeping this going in the direction that we want it to go and getting this team back into the playoffs.”

That might just about close any suspicion of Walton leaving the Kings anytime soon. With De'Aaron Fox as the main star in Sacramento, Walton has a player to lean on and build around. The Kings have done a decent job in obtaining pieces to rebuild, including rookie star Tyrese Haliburton, and Walton seems excited to play out that process.

The Arizona Wildcats are early in their head coaching search. Only time will tell who takes the job. One thing does seem certain though, Luke Walton won't be the head coach for the Wildcats next year.
