A couple of years ago, the Sacramento Kings selected Marvin Bagley III as the second overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Kings took Bagley over Luka Doncic, who went to the Dallas Mavericks (via the Atlanta Hawks) one slot below Bagley at third.

At this point in their careers, there's no denying that Doncic's trajectory far exceeds that of Bagley. Nevertheless, the Kings' big man isn't going to let the noise get to him:

“You see it, you hear it, but I pay it no mind,” Bagley said of the incessant comparisons between himself and Doncic, via ESPN's Zach Lowe. “I’m not here to please anyone outside the team. I’m here to help the team win. I’m here to help this organization get to places it has never been.”

Hopefully, Bagley will have more opportunities to prove his worth this coming season. Last season, injuries limited the 6-foot-11 center/power forward to just 13 games played for Sacramento. In his limited time on the court, Bagley averaged 14.2 points (on 46.7 percent shooting) and 7.5 rebounds in 25.7 minutes per contest.

Bagley may not have the type of attention and hype Doncic is getting — after all, he's also playing at a different level right now — but still, Bagley is expected to have a more impactful season for the Kings this coming season. For his sake, we just hope he's able to stay healthy, so that he can at least get an opportunity to deliver on his promise to take the franchise to new heights.
