Sacramento Kings big man Marvin Bagley III is making progress in his recovery from his thumb injury, but he will not play during the Kings' upcoming four-game road trip, according to the team.

Bagley suffered a non-displaced fracture in his thumb during his team's loss to the Phoenix Suns back on Oct. 23 and has been sidelined ever since. He will be re-evaluated after the Kings return to Sacramento.

In just one game this season, Bagley posted 14 points, 10 rebounds, a steal and a block over 28 minutes, going 6-of-16 from the floor and 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.

The 20-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at Duke, was originally selected by Sacramento with the second overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft. In just one season at Duke, Bagley registered 21.0 points and 11.1 boards across 33.9 minutes per game while making 61.4 percent of his field goal attempts, 39.7 percent of his triples and 62.7 percent of his foul shots.

Bagley then played 62 games during his rookie campaign, averaging 14.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and a block over 25.3 minutes per game while shooting 50.4 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from 3-point range and 69.1 percent from the charity stripe.

Bagley clearly has immense talent, particularly on the offensive end of the floor, but injuries have been a fairly big issue for him in the early stages of his career.

The Kings struggled to start the season with Bagley out, but they've rebounded to get to 6-7, even with De'Aaron Fox sidelined as well of late. They will head on the road to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.
