The Sacramento Kings and big man Marvin Bagley appear to have just dodged a bullet. News has emerged pertaining to Bagley's recent hand injury and it looks like the 22-year-old will be returning to action sooner than expected.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Bagley will not need to go under the knife to repair the fracture on his left hand:

While Bagley is still going to be sidelined for a significant period, this is still a welcome development for the embattled center. To be clear, the former Duke standout is not expected to return in four weeks' time. It is only after a month that the Kings will be able to provide another update on his recovery timetable, which means that depending on the results of those tests, Bagley could be forced to sit out beyond the four weeks. Nevertheless, the fact that he has avoided surgery here bodes well both in the short- and long-term.

Bagley sustained the injury on Sunday during Sacramento's 122-116 loss to the Charlotte Hornets. There was some fear that this could be a potentially season-ending injury for the big man, so this recent development is certainly a positive note in this respect.

Bagley is not in a very good place with the Kings right now, and his issues with the team have been well-documented. There have been some rumors about his availability in the trade market, and it remains to be seen what type of impact, if any, this injury will have on his value.
