Sacramento Kings rookie Marvin Bagley III injured his left knee in the third quarter of their game against the Milwaukee Bucks and had to be helped off to the locker room.

Bagley sustained the injury during a collision with Malcolm Brogdon in the closing stages of the third quarter. He was immediately substituted after the play.

According to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, Marvin Bagley III sustained a left knee sprain and wouldn't be able to return in the game. The 19-year-old big man is now scheduled for an MRI to determine the extent of his injury.

Bagley tallied nine points and seven rebounds in 18 minutes of play before exiting.

The Kings will certainly hope that the injury is not serious and that their rising star won't miss plenty of time. They are at the thick of the playoff race in the ultra-tough Western Conference, and the last they would like is an injury to a key player.

Entering Wednesday's showdown with the league's top team, the Kings are ninth and just one-and-a-half games behind the eight-seeded LA Clippers.

Marvin Bagley III is a pivotal piece for the Kings, especially if they want to compete for a playoff spot in their remaining games. In the 42 matches he played for Sacramento before the meeting with Milwaukee, the Duke Blue Devils product averaged 14.0 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting 51.3 percent from the field.
