Peja Stojakovic is following in Vlade Divac's footsteps and leaving the Sacramento Kings, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Stojakovic was the Kings' Assistant General Manager. He joined the front office in August of 2015.

Like Vlade Divac, Peja Stojakovic was a star for the Kings back in the day. Unfortunately, the former sharpshooter and Divac couldn't help the franchise become a winner again.

The Kings haven't been to the playoffs since 2006. They have the longest postseason drought in the NBA after missing the playoffs yet again this season. The team went only 31-41 in 2019-20 and 3-5 at Orlando, Florida in the NBA restart.

Sacramento finished in 12th place in the Western Conference standings.

Former Detroit Pistons executive Joe Dumars is expected to run things on an interim basis before the Kings hire a new general manager. Sacramento's roster is headlined by De'Aaron Fox, Marvin Bagley III, Buddy Hield, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Harrison Barnes.

Fox, one of the top youngsters in the NBA, is expected to sign a lucrative rookie-scale extension this offseason, while Bogdanovic becomes a restricted free agent once the Kings offer him his qualifying offer. It will be interesting to see what Sacramento does with the talented swingman since he's been the subject of trade rumors in the past.
