It’s not too late yet for the city of Sacramento to give it a try to woo LeBron James into playing for the Sacramento Kings. In fact, one billboard with a message targeted at the four-time MVP was seen in Sacramento, per Michael McGough of the Sacramento Bee.

Photos and posts to social media since Friday indicate that the digital billboard has been seen in at least two places: along Highway 99, and on Highway 50 near the Hazel Avenue exit. The sight got the attention of fans and commuters, and stirred up a bit of a fuss this weekend on Twitter:

Here’s a photo of the said billboard, shared online by Twitter use GuyFieriQuotes just recently.

It’s not the most creative and elaborate type of messaging, but the intention was clear: Sacramento needs a player like LeBron James to save the city’s basketball team from sinking deeper and deeper into the basketball abyss.

James going to Sacramento is a remote possibility. There are barely any rumors linking the four-time MVP to the Kings. Instead, it’s the Kings’ Pacific Division rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, who have been getting much of the focus when it comes to discussing James’ possible destinations in free agency.

James is coming off a season in which he risked fatigue on an almost nightly basis carrying a Cleveland Cavaliers team on his back. If he’s going to Sacramento, he won’t find much help there either. Kosta Koufos is not exactly Wilt Chamberlain, while Buddy Hield can’t be mistaken for Ray Allen. But hey, the Kings have up-and-comers in De’Aaron Fox and rookie Marvin Bagley III, so the Kings might not need James at all to have a bright future.
