The Sacramento Kings hold the No. 2 pick in the upcoming 2018 NBA Draft, but according to Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee, the team has yet to determine which player they are going to select on draft day.

The consensus among fans and experts alike is that the Kings are going to pick either Arizona Wildcats big man Deandre Ayton or European wunderkind Luka Doncic. The Phoenix Suns have the first overall pick, and it’s been presumed by many that whoever between Ayton and Doncic will remain available by the time it’s Sacramento’s turn to name their selection.

However, as what Jones notes, the Kings seem to be tinkering with the idea of bringing in Michael Porter Jr., the versatile Missouri Tigers forward who has become some sort of a polarizing figure ahead of the NBA Draft. Porter has played in just three games in his first and only season in Mizzou colors due to a back injury he sustained right in the Tigers’ very first game of the 2017-18 season.

The Kings are in need of a shot in the arm – and a new star – after the team finished with a pathetic 27-55 record this season. The upcoming draft gives Sacramento some semblance of hope that the team’s future campaigns are going to be brighter than what they’ve gone through over the past several seasons. The Kings have not had a winning season since going 44-38 in 2005-06.

The 2018 NBA Draft is scheduled on June 21 and will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
