The Sacramento Kings will keep a veteran wing in the fold for the franchise's first playoff race in over a decade. The Kings announced on Twitter Thursday that they have signed Corey Brewer, previously playing on a 10-day contract, for the remainder of the season.

His new deal will pay him $2 million, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Brewer first signed with the Kings on February 8th, and inked another 10-day contract on February 18th.

League rules prohibit teams from signing the same player to more than two 10-days in one season, meaning general manager Vlade Divac would have to make a decision on Brewer's future in Sacramento on Thursday.

Despite reportedly receiving interest from several other teams, the 32 year old knew exactly where he wanted to finish out the 2018-19 season.

“This is option No. 1 right now,” Brewer said on Wednesday, per Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee. “I like it here. I love it here. I’m having a great time.”

Brewer has appeared in just three of the seven games the Kings have played since signing him. He's been a part of Dave Joerger's regular rotation in three of Sacramento's last four games, though, reaching double-figures in points during tough losses to the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Brewer wasn't on an NBA roster to begin this season, getting his first league action with the Philadelphia 76ers on 10-day contracts in January.

The Kings, two games back of the Los Angeles Clippers for eighth in the Western Conference, have lost three games over their last five by two points or less.
