Sacramento Kings rookie big man Marvin Bagley III has encountered a bit of a setback. While the up-and-comer has not suffered a significant injury, a stomach illness will force Bagley III to the sideline for Sunday evening's matchup against the heralded San Antonio Spurs.

The Kings will visit the Spurs in San Antonio with tip-off currently slated for 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

The 20-year-old power forward notably played his collegiate basketball at Duke University before ultimately coming off the board to the Kings at No. 2 overall in last year's NBA Draft. Only former Arizona Wildcats big man Deandre Ayton was selected ahead of Bagley III in the 2018 NBA Draft with the former joining the Phoenix Suns.

Despite already making 57 regular season appearances as a member of the up-and-coming Kings, Bagley III has only started three times as a result of his time atop the highest level. Over the course of an even 25 minutes per game in 2018-19, he is currently averaging 14.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, one assist, one block and 0.6 steals per outing. Although performing well in his first NBA season, Bagley III is often the forgotten man of the bunch with the aforementioned Ayton, Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young and Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic all exceeding expectations as rookies this season.

As it stands today, the Kings are sporting a nearly even 37-39 record, seating the franchise in ninth place in the Western Conference standings. However, Sacramento probably won't reach the postseason this year despite making major strides in the right direction.
