The Sacramento Kings are waiving shooting guard Ben McLemore, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

McLemore appeared in 19 games this season for the Kings and averaged 3.9 points while shooting 39.1 percent from the field, 41.5 percent from beyond the arc and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line.

He was making $5,460,000, the final year of his contract.

Ben McLemore began his NBA career with the Kings back in 2013. He was the seventh overall pick in the 2013 draft out of The University of Kansas.

At the time, people in Sacramento thought McLemore would become a star with the Kings and be their starting shooting guard for the next decade.

That never happened, though, as McLemore averaged just 9.4 points in his first four years with Sacramento. The Missouri native signed a multi-year deal with the Memphis Grizzlies in the summer of 2017. His stint with Memphis wasn't all that great either, as McLemore put up 7.5 points in 56 games with Memphis.

The Grizzlies traded Ben McLemore back to the Kings last summer. The 25-year-old can no doubt shoot the ball from deep, but he's never been able to put it all together and be consistent with his play.

McLemore has career averages of 8.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
