There's no love lost between followers of the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings.

As division rivals vying for supremacy in not just the standings but northern California, both fan bases make a routine habit of playfully disrespecting the others' team – and the Warriors' ongoing dynasty has only furthered the resentment Kings nation has for their Bay Area counterparts.

Don't count those who actually decide games played between Golden State and Sacramento among the many who fan the flames of this previously dormant rivalry, though.

Ahead of his team's game against the Kings on Thursday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr showered Dave Joerger and his up-and-coming squad with praise.

“I love watching them play. I think Dave has done a fantastic job with the team,” he said, per NBC Sports California. “They're exciting, they're young, they're fun, they're full of energy, they're tough to beat. So, great story. Great for northern California, great for Sacramento – that place has always had great fans, I remember back in the day going to ARCO [Arena]. So, I'm happy for their fans 'cause it's been awhile since they've been able to really connect with their team, and this team is easy to connect with.”

Kerr should know better than most of Sacramento's status as one of the league's best young teams. The Warriors are 3-0 against the Kings in 2018-19, but those victories have come by a total of just 10 points. The teams set a record for combined threes made in a single game during Golden State's thrilling 127-123 victory over Sacramento on January 5th.

The go-go Kings, led by star point guard De'Aaron Fox and shot-maker supreme Buddy Hield, are currently 30-27, one game back of the Los Angeles Clippers for eighth in the Western Conference.

Sacramento last made the playoffs in 2006.
