The Sacramento Kings announced on Friday that Trevor Ariza and Harry Giles will miss the remainder of the preseason.

Ariza underwent a successful procedure to remove a lipoma from his back. Giles, meanwhile, remains out with a sore left knee:

Ariza, who split time with the Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards last season, signed a one-year deal with the Kings worth $15 million this summer. Sacramento hasn’t made the playoffs since 2006. That’s also the last year the Kings had a winning record.

Ariza averaged 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists with the Suns and Wizards last season. He shot 39.9 percent from the field, 33.4 percent from beyond the arc and 79.3 percent from the free-throw line in 69 games.

Ariza knows Kings head coach Luke knows Walton pretty well. The two were teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers back in the day and won a championship together.

Giles played in 58 games for the Kings last season. The youngster put up 7.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 50.3 percent overall and 63.7 percent from the charity stripe.

Giles tore his left ACL in 2013 and his right ACL in 2015 when he was in high school. He played in 26 games at Duke during the 2016-17 season.

The Kings are looking to make the playoffs this season, although it will be tough since the Western Conference is so rugged. Sacramento is hoping Ariza and Giles will be ready for the regular season.
