Sacramento Kings rookie Tyrese Haliburton might have just unlocked the secret sauce to a healthy and sustainable relationship with teammate De'Aaron Fox. With all the COVID-19 protocols being set in place, it's hard for teammates to bond and really develop a solid relationship. But, Haliburton has found ways to connect with Fox while making sure everyone is as socially distant as possible.

“We've been getting along really well,” the Kings rookie said (via Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee). “We were supposed to play Call of Duty yesterday but my connection was trash at the hotel.”

Well, at least he tried, Kings fans might be thinking.

Fox is one of the biggest gamers in the league. The 23-year-old has been known to log on to his Twitch stream from time to time and unwind by going online and blasting some virtual foes. That being said, Haliburton, being one of the younger guys in the Kings roster, knows that the key to Fox's heart is through gaming and he's more than taking advantage.

The 12th overall pick in last year's draft understands that an off-court relationship to the Kings' young leader should be a recipe for his own success, as well as the team's. Fox definitely knows a thing or two being a young player in a developing team and he can definitely mentor the younger Haliburton as the rook tries to establish himself as a solid backcourt partner for Fox moving forward.

The on-court chemistry between two can be lethal for Sacramento in the long run and, if you're a Kings fan, it's good to know that their relationship is off to a bang-bang start.

The Kings have a lot of ground to make up in the NBA — not just in relationship to this season, but in terms of their standing in the league and their ability to become an annual playoff team over a longer run of time. Being in the Pacific Division with the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors and Suns makes Sacramento's task harder. The franchise needs rallying points and foundational elements. Maybe the Haliburton-Fox relationship is the thing this organization can build on.
