Newly-extended general manager Vlade Divac is preparing to fire Sacramento Kings head coach Dave Joerger over a face-to-face meeting later today, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Divac recently received a four-year extension, which will keep him at the helm of the front office decision-making until the 2022-23 season, according to earlier reports.

It appears his first power move will be to fire Joerger, who started out the season a rousing 30-26, but tailed off in the last third of the year, mustering only a 9-17 record to fall nine games behind the playoff-bound L.A. Clippers.

Joerger had his share of run-ins with assistant GM Brandon Williams, Divac's right-hand man — which caused plenty of pause within the executive ranks when examining his standing with the organization.

The coach spearheaded the most successful Kings season since 2006, finishing the 2018-19 campaign with a 39-43 record and an overall 98-148 record throughout his three-year tenure with the team.

The Kings have reportedly looked at Los Angeles Lakers coach Luke Walton as a potential replacement for Joerger. Walton is still employed at this day and time, but is largely expected to be let go before the end of the week.

Sacramento has also taken aim at Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Monty Williams, who has a proven track record with young teams, and could be a potential target moving forward, according to Wojnarowski.
