Sacramento Kings majority owner Vivek Ranadive has been known to make controversial decisions since he started his ownership of the team in 2013.

From reportedly influencing his executives on who to draft two years ago, to the infamous firing of then-head coach Mike Malone, it has been a very eventful three years for him to say the least.

Another suggestion he supposedly made was to have the Kings play four-on-five defense, leaving a cherry-picker available for an easy basket on the offensive end. Similar to how he denied the rumors of him playing a hand on the firing of Malone and former general manager Pete D'Alessandro ending his tenure in Sacramento prematurely, the 59-year-old businessman said there was no truth to it and in his own words described the story as “completely absurd.”

Speaking to Sam Amick of USA Today, the founder of TIBCO software had this to say about the different issues linked to him:

“Well just that I’m overly involved with the team. I’ve never actually been on the team plane. I’ve never even sat through a practice (Ranadive still lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, but comes to Sacramento several times a week)…I had no involvement between the GM and the coach, or which player got picked or which player got traded. There was this five-on-four story which was completely absurd, which was categorically, patently untrue.”

Whether or not these rumors are true is anybody's guess at this point. The Sacramento faithful are only hoping that these issues do not cause unwanted distractions so the team can focus on their goal of making the playoffs this year.
