After a hot and surprising start to the season, the Sacramento Kings have slowed down and currently hold a record of 20-20. However, despite the decline, Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that Kings head coach Dave Joerger is avoiding the hot seat:

“Joerger remains extremely bullish on Sacramento’s young core and this Kings team (20-20) that has surprised the masses this season. What’s more, the tense dynamic with assistant general manager Brandon Williams appears more tenable than it did when Joerger was asking Williams to leave his team’s shootaround back on Nov. 29. Williams spent significant time on the road in the weeks that followed that incident — and sources say it was a deliberate move intended to relieve tensions — but he has been to numerous home games recently. In terms of Joerger’s job security, all signs point to him remaining safe through the end of this season, at least.”

All things considered, Joerger has done an excellent job with the team this season. The Kings were expected to be one of the weakest teams in the league and, instead, they're still in the running for a playoff spot.

Almost all of the Kings young players have shown massive improvement, especially backcourt mates DeAaron Fox and Buddy Hield, who are having breakout seasons. Center Willy Cauley-Stein and shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic have also impressed.

Considering that Joerger has thus far led the team to surpass all expectations, it's only fair that he continues to get a chance to take the Kings to even further heights.
