As the Ben Simmons drama in Philadelphia continues to drag on, one team that has popped up throughout the process as a destination is the Sacramento Kings.

While it has been reported that talks between the Sixers and Kings took place earlier in the offseason, nothing came to fruition.

Per The Athletic, it sounds as though the Kings are content with seeing how their young core starts the season out before revisiting any sort of franchise altering move like trading for Simmons.

Man, I knew I could count on you to bring that Kings fire, DA (David Aldridge). If anyone missed it, our Hall of Famer made this spirited Sacramento argument when we last discussed the Simmons situation in early September here. Yet as was the case then, sources tell me the Kings have been determined to see what this current group looks like early on this regular season and haven’t revisited the Simmons situation since the two teams spoke months ago.

It is worth pointing out that if the Kings do revisit this down the road, there is a front office connection in Sacramento with Daryl Morey, who of course is in Philly.

“…it’s worth highlighting the fascinating front office relationship dynamics that would be in play if the Kings ever change their stance: Second-year general manager Monte McNair was an understudy of Morey’s during their time together in Houston and still has a very good rapport with him.”

For now, the reports and rumors will continue to mount with the regular season rapidly approaching.
