The Sacramento Kings recently made waves after they decided to fire Luke Walton as coach. The major shakeup could lead to some significant changes not only within the coaching ranks but also on the roster. The Kings have long been linked to Philadelphia 76ers want-away star Ben Simmons, but at this point, it sounds like Sacramento is keeping a cool head.

The Sixers have a very steep asking price for Simmons, which has led to some teams backing off in the race to sign the former Rookie of the Year. Kings guards De'Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton have been rumored to be Philly's target players in a potential Simmons deal, but according to Jake Fisher of Bleacher Report, Sacramento is having none of that:

And despite strong preseason chatter that a slow start in Sacramento could lead to a potential Ben Simmons trade with Philadelphia, there remains no significant current discussion between the Sixers and Kings. Fox and Tyrese Halliburton are still deemed unavailable, and second-year standout Tyrese Maxey has emerged as a legitimate starting point guard in Philadelphia.

The report goes on to say that the Kings want to keep their core intact amid the appointment of Alvin Gentry as the interim coach. De'Aaron Fox still remains to be Sacramento's point guard of the future and it doesn't sound like he's going to be let go anytime soon:

Sacramento brass expect Gentry, Fox, and the Kings to recapture what led to their strong start themselves, as opposed to making any other stark personnel changes, sources told B/R.

It is worth noting, however, that the Kings also have not changed their stance on the Marving Bagley III situation. The 22-year-old infamously butted heads with Luke Walton and has since been in the Sacramento dog house. He's played in a handful of games for the Kings this season, but it is clear that he is no longer part of the team's long-term plans. As such, a move away from Sacramento remains to be an imminent possibility for Bagley as the trade deadline approaches.
