With the 2022 NBA Draft less than three weeks way, rumors are heating up across the league. The Sacramento Kings are no exception. The Kings landed the fourth pick in the NBA Draft Lottery despite their odds projecting them to end up at No. 8.

Although plenty of talent will be available at the four spot, including wings Shaedon Sharpe and Jaden Ivey, the Kings may look in a different direction. Rumors have surfaced that the Kings are “open” to hearing trade offers for the pick in order to jumpstart building a roster around De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

“League sources have confirmed that the Kings will listen to trade the pick for the right price.” per Kings beat reporter James Ham. “The cost will be steep, but that is expected when you are talking about a No. 4 overall pick.”

The key phrase in this report is “for the right price.” If the team was looking for a return on a young prospect or a player whose value is their potential, they could simply make the pick at four. Sacramento's front office would need an All-Star level talent to cough up a top pick in a stacked draft.

Luckily for the Kings, there may be some teams who can afford the price of the fourth pick. Washington may be ready to end the Bradley Beal era. Detroit could offer up Jerami Grant. There are plenty of frazzled stars and adjacent front offices for Sacramento to hear offers from.

It will take some negotiating, but with the pool of assets and picks the Kings possess beyond the fourth pick, we could see someone else making the selection in the 2022 NBA Draft.
