Currently holding a 16-24 record in the Western Conference, it's not likely the Sacramento Kings make the playoffs this season. For that reason, multiple other teams have inquired the Kings about potentially trading for Harrison Barnes or Buddy Hield. However, the Kings have stayed firm with maintaining their current roster.

It seems the owner, Vivek Ranadive is growing impatient with the team constantly failing. However, he seems to believe Barnes and Hield play a vital role in the future success of the organization, per NBC Sports. In fact, he's refused to accept trade offers, as Ranadive doesn't want to accept anything that won't improve the roster. Howard Beck with Sports Illustrated breaks down Ranadive's thought process.

“One of the things I heard was that essentially they're only going to trade Barnes and Hield if they're blown away by an offer. Not because they overvalue them, but because Vivek Ranadive wants to be competitive. He doesn’t want to tank.”

Makes sense from Ranadive's standpoint. The Kings haven't been competitive for quite some time, and trading away Barnes and Hield could keep the Kings at the bottom of the barrel for even longer. However, considering this franchise hasn't been to the playoffs since 2006, acquiring more draft picks could be a solid option to build a playoff team down the road.

Potentially trading the farm and starting new could be what this team needs right now. We've witnessed the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets gather a boatload of draft picks for the future, hoping they can use them to re-build a playoff-caliber team.

The NBA trade deadline is March 25th. With it being right around the corner, other NBA front offices will likely be reaching out to the Kings. Don't expect a trade to happen though unless it's a deal Ranadive can't refuse.
