With a full season to have their new roster playing together, there is a lot of excitement for the Sacramento Kings faithful about the team’s chances of speeding up their rebuilding process after trading DeMarcus Cousins last February. Now, they have more reason to look forward to the next season, especially during home games.

The team recently released the new look of their home floor inside Golden 1 Center. In the middle of it, the biggest change can easily be noticed as there will be a lion, a symbol of leadership and strength, according to their official media release via Kings.com. They also detailed the meaning of the other changes made, and what it meant for the Kings as a whole.

“The team will use this customizable floor through the season when wearing the Global Uniform at home. Building a brand that connects with fans around the world will help create an authentic connection with emerging international basketball audiences, from the court up through jerseys, apparel and more.”

“International elements are present throughout the new design. For the team’s biggest global celebrations, Bollywood and Lunar New Year theme nights, interchangeable panels featuring a new regional logo – a Kings crown featuring the team’s name in Hindi or Mandarin – will be added to the floor. The Kings will use these marks, in addition to the primary logo in future India and China endeavors.”

“For other games, the team’s global crest – a heralding lion, a symbol of leadership and strength recognized around the world – will remain at center court. The granite “S”, inspired by the city’s flag showing the inseparable link between the community and team, will wrap around the floor along the apron.”

Although the design will only be an alternate that’s expected to be used on special nights, it’s definitely eye-popping, and a big change to their old one. They will also be sporting their Global uniform during games where the custom floor will be utilized. Since last year, the Kings have had some modern updates to their look, starting from their jerseys, and also their new home arena.

With the addition of De’Aaron Fox, Vince Carter, George Hill, and Zach Randolph this offseason, the Kings now have a good mix of young guns and veterans in their team. This bodes well for the franchise as they look to finally reclaim a semblance of significance in today's NBA.
