Less than a week after his divorce from the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Kliff Kingsbury might find himself calling plays for another Texas team.

Rumours have it that the Dallas Cowboys are currently negotiating with the 39-year-old coach.

According to Ryan Phillips of TheBigLead, the deal with the Cowboys is being finalized and Kingsbury's agents are waiting for a “Godfather offer” from owner Jerry Jones.

Kingsbury is an offensive-minded coach. His presence can be seen as an advantage for the reason that high-scoring games in the NFL have become more frequent. Six teams in the league currently average 28.7 points or more per game.

Kingsbury also worked with a handful of signal-callers currently in the league. Current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is among them.

Mahomes recorded strong numbers with the Red Raiders under Kingsbury's tutelage. In three seasons in Lubbock, he passed for 11,252 yards and 93 touchdowns with only 29 interceptions.

Above all, Texas Tech has been known to be a scoring machine under Kingsbury since he took over in 2013. They averaged 30.5 points or more per game in that timeframe.

Kingsbury led the Red Raiders to a 35-40 record. But teams would rather look into his ability to lead an offense. Hence, he is fit to take the offensive coordinator role for needy teams.

It is interesting to see what kind of turnaround he can provide to the Cowboys. They may be a team on the rise due to the presence of two of the league's young stars, Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot.
