Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series will be coming out on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series X on July 8, 2022.
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series updates both Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil to run in 60fps and 4K resolution for relevant platforms, with added features such as two-player coop mode and adjustable difficulty. This gives a new generation of gamers a chance to discover Klonoa, one of the most underrepresented amazing platformers from the PSOne and PS2 era. For the game's 25th anniversary, this also gives longtime fans a chance to celebrate this series and give these two games another go.
The first game, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile was already remade in 2008 with a Wii release, and this remaster will be based on that version of the game. Both games feature 3D graphics on a 2.5D plane. Klonoa primarily attacks with his Wind Ring, an object that fires air towards enemies that pull them towards him which he then carries on his back, allowing him to throw enemies against other enemies, or use these enemies as a jumping platform to reach greater heights.
The two-player cooperative feature was first added in Lunatea's Veil, and this feature will now be available also on Klonoa: Door to Phantomile.
In the first game, players explore Phantomile, a land fueled by dreams people have at night. Klonoa investigates an airship that crashed into a nearby mountain, which he saw in his dreams. They find a dark spirit named Ghadius on the mountain, looking for a pendant that can turn Phantomile from a World of Dreams into a World of Nightmares. Klonoa will then have to beat Ghadius to prevent him from doing so, and to save Phantomile.
In the second game, players are once again in another dream world, this time in Lunatea.
