The New York Knicks have made a ton of moves in the offseason after missing the playoffs. New York is a young roster and will be looking to have a bounce-back season.

They have had an eventful offseason thus far, with the draft, free agency, and trades. The Knicks' main building piece is forward R.J. Barrett, and they spent the offseason surrounding him with better talent. They have been linked in trades for stars around the league like Donovan Mitchell, but no trade has been made yet.

New York is in a good position to turn things around, but it will be tough in a competitive Eastern Conference. With that said, here are the full 2022 NBA offseason grades for the New York Knicks.

Knicks 2022 NBA Offseason Grades

Draft: D+

New York entered the 2022 NBA draft with a first-round pick but did not make a selection until the second round. Fans were not happy about this as they were hoping to add to the young core. Stephen A. Smith shared his disappointment as they traded away their picks for future draft capital.

They were able to unload salary like Kemba Walker and what signing first-round picks would have cost, which paved the way for the money to sign Jalen Brunson.

The Knicks did end up with one rookie in Trevor Keels, in the second round out of Duke. Keels could be a solid role player in the future, as he averaged 11.5 points in his lone season in college.

The draft wasn't how New York upgraded the roster, but they will have some picks in the future to use.

Free Agency: B+

In free agency is where the Knicks made their biggest move. The Knicks signed Jalen Brunson to a four-year $104 million deal. Brunson is coming off of a breakout campaign with the Dallas Mavericks, where he shined, especially in the playoffs.

Brunson averaged 21.7 points per game along with 4.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists in the 2022 playoffs. He shot 46.6 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from three. Brunson is a good young guard that has the potential to continue growing.

He will now get to play under the bright lights in Madison Square Garden alongside Barrett.

New York also inked Mitchell Robinson to a new deal for four years, $80 million. Robinson is a traditional big that averaged 8.5 points and 8.6 rebounds while shooting 76.1 percent from the field. He contributed as a rim protector with 1.8 blocks per contest. Robinson will continue to be a solid center for the Knicks.

Another signing at the big man spot for New York was Isaiah Hartenstein. Hartenstein was signed to a two-year deal worth $16 million. He was a solid contributor for the Los Angeles Clippers this past season, averaging 8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds. This is an under-the-radar signing that will provide depth for New York.

Overall, free agency is where the Knicks did their best.

Trades: C

While the Knicks haven't made a blockbuster move, they have made some trades. New York made the draft night moves for future picks but also sent Alec Burks, Nerlens Noel, two second-round picks, and cash to the Detroit Pistons for a conditional second-rounder. This was also part of the Knicks freeing up cap room to sign Jalen Brunson.

These moves weren't big but could have been better.

Overall Offseason Grade: B-

Although it wasn't a phenomenal offseason, the Knicks did seemingly improve for the upcoming season. New York still has hope to trade for Mitchell, which would change the entire thinking behind their offseason so far.
