Anthony Davis has the New York Knicks on equal footing with the Los Angeles Lakers in terms of teams he is interested in signing a long-term deal with, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks are also on Davis' list of preferred teams to be traded to. Davis can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2020.

Anthony Davis has requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans, but it doesn't appear he's going to be traded by Thursday's trade deadline. The Knicks currently don't have the assets the Pelicans are looking for to acquire Davis, but that could change in the summer.

New York could wind up with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Knicks could trade that pick, plus the other draft picks they acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in the Kristaps Porzingis trade, and acquire Anthony Davis.

The Knickerbockers will have cap space this summer to sign two max contract players. If New York is able to trade for Davis, and Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant comes to The Big Apple as a free agent, Madison Square Garden will officially be back as the epicenter of basketball.
