Despite being one of the most decorated players in the league today, 10-time All-Star and former NBA scoring champion Carmelo Anthony still remains to be without a team at this point in the offseason. This has come as a bit of a shock for some folks, which, as it turns out, also includes New York Knicks legend Bernard King.

Recently, King was asked about his thoughts about Anthony struggling to find a team that is willing to give him another shot in the league. According to the Hall of Famer, he considers Melo to be one of the very best, and implied that he definitely deserves to still play at highest level.

“Melo is one of the greatest players to ever play the game. I've always maintained that,” he said, via Ian Begley of SNY. “I'm honored he patterned a large part of his game after mine.”

King continued by providing a bit of low-key advice for Anthony. According to the 62-year-old Brooklyn, New York native, it is essential for everyone in the NBA to be willing and able to make the necessary adjustments to their game in order to meet the ever-changing demands of the league.

“It's a little surprise for everyone the league changes and shifts and sometimes you have to adjust your game accordingly,” King added. “He's a great great talent and always will be.”

Maybe this is King's own discreet way of saying that Anthony must be able to adjust his game (and his mindset?) in order to move forward. Melo has always had a superstar mentality, and perhaps this is one of the biggest hindrances that has prevented him from signing with a new team.
