The New York Knicks will hire Carmelo Anthony's former agent, Leon Rose, as their new president of basketball operations.

Since Rose and Anthony have such a close relationship, rumors about Anthony possibly coming back to the Knicks this summer have started to swirl.

Anthony, who wants to play next season, doesn't know what will happen with the Portland Trail Blazers, but he will always consider the Knicks and New York home.

“It’s hard to say because I don’t know what that situation is going to be,” Anthony said, via Newsday. “The easiest thing to say is, ‘His agent is there, he’s coming back.’ Until I sit down and see the whole plan, I don’t know.

“Me and him, we talk multiple times a week. That’s not something we even discuss. I still think it’s still a shock for everybody. When the offseason comes, I got to be careful [what I say] now because it’s tampering.”

Anthony is the seventh all-time scorer in Knicks franchise history. In 412 games with the ‘Bockers, Anthony averaged 24.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Only eight players have gotten their jerseys retired by the Knicks. They are Patrick Ewing, Walt Frazier, Willis Reed, Earl Monroe, Bill Bradley, Dick Barnett, Dick McGuire and Dave DeBusschere. However, Carmelo Anthony could very well be part of that, and a return to the Big Apple next season could help his case.

Rose has to hire a new coach if he decides to move on from Mike Miller. The Knicks are hoping Rose's connections with players will help the franchise get big time free agents again.
