The animosity between New York Knicks owner James Dolan and team legend Charles Oakley is not exactly a secret. The latest chapter in the long-standing feud may involve the NBA commissioner himself if it escalates even further, at least if Oakley gets his way.
TMZ Sports caught up with the former Knick and asked him about how he felt when he was thrown under the bus by Dolan. Oakley used the platform to express his frustrations with the league's inaction over the altercation that happened between the two of them in 2017. He said he expected more out of the NBA and Adam Silver:
“It's been 2 years plus. The league hasn't done nothing to him about it,” Oakley says. “Take a stand. They take a stand for everything else. [Colin] Kaepernick took a stand in the NFL. I'll probably take a stand in the NBA.”
Even after all this time, Oak says he can't figure out exactly WHY Dolan doesn't like him … “They just don't like me. For what reason, I don't know.”
Oakley says he wants Adam Silver to get involved and make things right … because “the problem hasn't been solved yet.”
Oakley may claim that he doesn't know why Dolan doesn't have a shred of affection for him at all, but The Guardian provided a well-written piece in 2017 explaining the debacle.
Oakley has long been a critic of Dolan. Oak has openly criticized the way the team has been run by Dolan. Things came to a boil that fateful night when the two exchanged barbs during a Knicks game at The Garden.
It's unlikely that Oakley's persona non grata status will be revoked while Dolan is the owner of the Knicks. However, it's highly likely that he will continue to call out Dolan and fight for the Knicks from afar.
