The New York Knicks suffered their third straight loss in a crushing way, allowing the lowly Atlanta Hawks to come back in the fourth quarter and snatch a victory from them at their own home turf. Shooting guard Courtney Lee and forward Tim Hardaway Jr. were two of the disappointing starters that couldn't get it done and put New York back in the winning column.

“I would say [it was] the most embarrassing game that we lost, being in the situation where a lot of the situations there was time to score, and we just didn't capitalize on opportunities,” Lee said, according to ESPN's Ian Begley. “We were in position to win this game, and I think we just checked out and lost focus on a couple of plays, and it cost us.”

Forward Kristaps Porzingis was the all-around anchor during the game, but it didn't prove enough, as the Hawks grabbed a 30-25 lead in the fourth quarter and managed to come out with a 99-96 win at Madison Square Garden.

Tim Hardaway Jr., who left before he could address the media after the game, apologized for his behavior, pinning the last two losses on himself and saying his emotions got the best of him, according to Begley. Hardaway has scored a mere combined 19 points through the last three games — a large reason for the Knicks' struggles as of late.

The Knicks have now lost six of their last eight games and slowly started to slip out of playoff contention, despite showing early signs of encouragement. They'll face another tough task against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.
