The New York Knicks have lost 15 of their last 16 games, leading to major frustration by some of the team's veteran players. Among them is shooting guard Courtney Lee, who has grown tired of seeing his team's lack of effort out on the floor.

The Knicks have lacked the talent with the loss of Kristaps Porzingis, but they shouldn't be lacking in will — a truth that has hurt his team to the core.

“When you watch film, it’s just all effort,” Lee said on Monday, according to Fred Kerber of The New York Post. “Effort is the key to everything. It takes no talent to run from the paint out to contest a 3-point shot, that’s just all effort. We have to get everybody’s effort. Everybody’s got to be locked in.”

New York has lost seven straight games after a win over the Orlando Magic, but they've been dismal on defense, giving up a hair under 120 points per game throughout the skid.

“It’s definitely frustrating,” said Lee. “It’s not really what the team is doing. It’s what we’re making mistakes on. We’re making mistakes on our basic rotations that we’ve been doing all year. We’re still making those same mistakes,” Lee said. “That’s the frustrating part.”

Lee is slated to “probably” start against the Dallas Mavericks, according to head coach Jeff Hornacek — giving the Knicks a chance to get back on the winning column against a Mavs team that is looking for the best available pick in this year's NBA Draft.
