New York Knicks shooting guard Courtney Lee is getting closer and closer to making his season debut as he recovers from a lingering neck injury.

According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Lee has begun participating in limited contact drills. The veteran guard will get checked out by a team doctor soon and expects to be cleared for full practice.

“It’s pretty much just how my body responds to it. If I can go through something and the next day not feel anything, then I’ll take it up to the next notch. But as of right now, I feel good, so that should be the next thing coming, soon.

Courtney Lee has two years and $25 million left on his contract. The 33-year-old signed a four-year, $48 million free agent deal with the Knicks back in 2016.

In 76 games last season, Lee averaged 12.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 45.4 percent from the field, 40.6 percent from beyond the arc and 91.9 percent from the free-throw line. The Knicks have looked to trade Lee since the offseason and will likely resume those trade talks once he's back on the court playing.

Lee has career averages of 10.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists with the Orlando Magic, New Jersey Nets (now Brooklyn Nets), Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Hornets and Knicks.
