Reports earlier revealed that Courtney Lee wants out of the New York Knicks. However, the swingman quickly refuted such reports of him wanting to be shipped to a contender.

As per Ian Begley of ESPN, Lee expressed his desire to stay with the Knicks, contrary to previous reports that he requested a trade.

The 32-year-old will be entering his third season with the Knicks. Last season, in 76 games, Lee averaged 12 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. He formed part of the starting line up and played 30.4 minutes per contest. He also shot at an impressive 91.9 percent from the free throw line.

Lee, who has $12.2 million remaining on his deal for 2018-19 and $12.7 in 2019-20, is considered one of the core players of the Knicks.  Previous reports of Lee wanting to be traded are believable at first. After all, in his two seasons with the team, the franchise has gone nowhere.

But in the offseason, the Knicks made landmark moves such as the signing of a new head coach in David Fizdale. On top of this, they acquired a top prospect in Kevin Knox via the draft. With the confirmation that Lee prefers to stay with the team, the Knicks are bent on finally concocting the right formula for success.
