New York Knicks head coach David Fizdale says he is “flattered” that Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant and others keep talking about the franchise.

Durant recently said the Knicks aren't cool anymore and that's why big-time free agents don't sign with them.

Fizdale, entering his second season as the head coach of the Knicks, is taking the high road and focusing on what he can control:

After missing out on Durant and Kyrie Irving in free agency this summer, the Knicks used their cap space on Julius Randle (who thinks the Knicks are cool), Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson, Wayne Ellington, Marcus Morris, Elfrid Payton and Reggie Bullock.

David Fizdale is hoping these seven veterans will help him teach the youngsters in New York how to be professional and what it takes to win in the NBA on a consistent basis.

There are some around the league who believe the Knicks will never get a superstar free agent while James Dolan is the owner. New York has been a walking disaster under Dolan, who doesn't have the best rep around the NBA.

It was an overall down summer for the Knicks. They had the worst record in the NBA last season, but didn't win the draft lottery and saw Zion Williamson go to the New Orleans Pelicans.

New York wound up with the third pick and selected RJ Barrett.
