New York Knicks head coach David Fizdale is all about building strong relationships with his players and that's something he's going to tell free agents this summer.

The Knicks have cap space to sign two max contract players this offseason. Whichever stars take meetings with New York, Fizdale is going to preach his stance on building healthy relationships to them.

“Paint the picture from a coaching standpoint of what the Knicks are becoming,” Fizdale said of his approach in meetings, via Ian Begley of SNY. “And try to really make players understand the type of relationship I'm trying to build as a coach and the type of team I'm trying to build to ultimately win a title.”

The Knicks have been heavily linked to Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving and Golden State Warriors small forward Kevin Durant. Both stars become unrestricted free agents this summer once they decline their 2019-20 player options with their respective teams.

The Knicks finished with the worst record in the NBA this season. The last big time free agent they signed was Amar'e Stoudemire back in 2010 when they missed out on LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

Fizdale has a good reputation around the league with players. That's going to bode well for the Knicks once free agency starts on July 1.
