New York Knicks center DeAndre Jordan could miss the team's match-up with the San Antonio Spurs tomorrow because of an injury he suffered during practice.

Jordan's ankle sprain isn't seen as something that would sideline him for a significant amount of time.

The Knicks acquired Jordan as part of a trade package that allowed them to acquire disgruntled guard Dennis Smith Jr. from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis. Team officials believe he can be instrumental in the team's pitch to sign Kevin Durant this summer.

However, there are also reports that the 6'11 center could be bought out by the Knicks anytime soon, and one team that might go after him is the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jordan's long-term future in the league looks vague. He's already past his prime and is no longer capable of protecting the rim the way he once did as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers. He's still averaging 11.8 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game this season, and can definitely help mentor Knicks rookie Mitchell Robinson.

If the Knicks do decide to waive him, he will be a great help to a contender, or a team like the Lakers, who is currently doing their best to nab one of the final spots in the Western Conference playoffs race.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Jordan this season, but for now, he'll have to take care of that ankle sprain.
