New York Knicks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. will miss his third consecutive game on Wednesday when the Knicks host the Portland Trail Blazers.

Smith is still dealing with an oblique injury:

The Knicks are 9-24 on the season. They are in 14th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Dennis Smith Jr. has appeared in 21 games this season for the Knicks. He's averaging 5.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 32.5 percent from the field, 29.3 percent from beyond the arc and 50.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting that Smith is looking to get traded by the Knicks. Smith, however, told Marc Berman of The New York Post he wants to remain with the Knicks, so New York fans have to decide who they want to believe:

Asked by The Post point blank at Saturday’s morning shootaround at Georgetown if he still wants to be here, Smith said, “I like playing for the Knicks. So whatever I’ve got to do, I’m going to take care of that.’’

So you want to be here?

“Right, I want to be here. It hasn’t been in my mind. You know what I’m saying? My thing is to take care of what I got going on now. I’m with the New York Knicks, so I try to be the best version of me with this team.”

Ian Begley of SNY previously reported that the Minnesota Timberwolves were interested in trading for Smith.

New York acquired Smith from the Dallas Mavericks last season in the blockbuster Kristaps Porzingis trade.
