After an anticlimactic end to their inspired run this 2020-21 season, the New York Knicks are now looking ahead and focusing on making moves in the offseason.

Derrick Rose had a rejuvenated campaign with the Knicks, averaging 14.9 points and 4.2 assists in a Sixth Man role. The 32-year-old, however, is not getting younger, and with the mileage he has on his brittle legs, the Knicks might be looking at an insurance policy via the NBA Draft.

The Knicks have already worked out West Virginia point guard Miles McBride, whose stock has reportedly skyrocketed after doing well in the NBA Draft Combine. While Rose did well for the Knicks, the team could use some more talent at the PG spot, and McBride sounds he's ready to take charge (via New York Post).

“I definitely see myself having the ball in my hands. That’s what I feel comfortable as. But I also feel comfortable playing off the ball. My shotmaking ability is a huge part of my game. And playing with another player who has the ball in his hands is something I can definitely do. I feel comfortable making decisions and having the ball in my hands. And being as competitive as I am, I feel I can find myself on a team contributing a lot of both.’’

The Knicks' backcourt isn't actually enticing, with Rose, Elfrid Payton, Immanuel Quickley, and Frank Ntilikina. All of them got exposed in the NBA Playoffs, with Payton even losing his minutes. With McBride, who averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists as a sophomore, the Knicks could pair him with Quickley as their backcourt of the future.

The Knicks are picking 19th overall in the upcoming NBA Draft.
